Authorities have uncovered the personal diary of Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber from Haryana, who was recently apprehended on espionage charges related to Pakistan. The diary contains detailed entries about her thoughts and travels, with some pages referencing her time spent across the border. Jyoti, aged 33, is among 11 individuals arrested in the past fortnight in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh for alleged spying activities. Investigators have pointed to a suspected espionage network linked to Pakistan operating in North India. Jyoti was taken into custody on May 16 from New Agrasen Extension.
Insights from the Diary
According to police sources, Jyoti was meticulous about documenting her experiences, often carrying her diary on international trips. She wrote in both English and Hindi. Investigators believe the diary may provide crucial insights into her international connections and questionable activities. The diary spans approximately 10-11 pages, with eight pages detailing general travel experiences in English and three pages focused on her visits to Pakistan. One entry reflects her sentiments upon returning from a ten-day trip to Pakistan, expressing a desire for unity despite borders.
"Today, I am returning to my country, India. We do not know how long the distances between borders will last, but may the grievances of our hearts be resolved. We are all from the same land, the same soil."
Personal Reflections
In her diary, Jyoti wrote messages such as, "Take care of home, I will return soon," and noted prescriptions from a doctor for a month's supply of medication. The last page ends with a heartfelt note, "I love you." Sources indicate that she praised the hospitality she received in Pakistan and expressed hope that more Indian Hindus could visit their ancestral sites. She also articulated her desire for easier access to religious sites, including temples and gurdwaras, and the hope of reconnecting with families separated since the 1947 partition.
